Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear when I come for a workshop?
Clothing: There are aprons available to use however working with clay can get a little messy so please wear clothing that can get dirty (light colored clay/glazes do wash out in the washing machine however dark or highly pigmented clay/glazes can stain). For throwing, you can also bring an old bath towel to minimize clay on your clothes.
Shoes: The best footwear is to wear sneakers that can get dirty. No shoes with a heel as it becomes difficult to control the electric throwing wheel.
Hands: Short (very short) nails work the best when working with clay on the throwing wheel. If that is not possible, don’t worry as there are some ways to work around it but know that it is a little more difficult.
What is the cancellation policy?
Open Studio: Cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before the booked appointment. It is understandable that sometimes things don’t go according to plan, one time with a late notice is acceptable however after that, cancellation within 24 hours results in one block deducted from the punch card.
Workshops : Cancellation is possible up to 7 days before the booked appointment. Within 7 days, 50% of the price will be invoiced.
Courses and Private Workshops: Cancellation is possible up to 7 days before the booked course/workshop. Within 7 days, 50% of the price will be invoiced, within 48 hours, 100% of the price will be invoiced.
I have some pain issues with hands/arms/shoulders/back/neck, is that a problem for a workshop?
Handbuilding: For handbuilding you sit at a table and can decide yourself how big or small to work so you can always adjust to be comfortable.
Throwing: Throwing is quite intensive on the body so this could be an issue. The way you sit at the throwing wheel is a specific position and you need to be able to use a lot of strength with your upper body on the clay/wheel. Please contact me if you have issues and we can see together if this would work.
Can I park at the studio?
Parking in front of the studio is paid parking Monday-Saturday from 9:00-24:00. Please be aware the shopping street parking is more expensive that in the neighborhoods around the studio. Until November 1 2024, there is free parking close just a few minutes walk to the studio on the following streets: Irisstraat, Leliestraat, Papaverstraat, Anemonestraat however this will also unfortunately become paid parking from November 2024 onwards.
How long can my unfinished/finished work stay at the studio?
Due to limited space in the studio, work which is unfinished or finished and not picked up will be recycled or donated after 3 months. If there is something important and you really cannot come within the 3 months, please contact me.
